The Federal Government, has through the Minister of Education, Prof. Adamu Adamu, explained why the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Nigeria, is delaying.
According to Adamu, the implementation of a ‘no-work-no-pay’ policy by the federal government is the condition delaying an agreement between both parties.
The minister stated this on Thursday while speaking at the 47th Session of the State House Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Adamu said the union is demanding the payment of salaries accrued by its members during the duration of the industrial action.
He said other issues have bee sorted out except the demand by ASUU that salaries within the strike period must be paid.
He also revealed that four out of five unions in the tertiary institutions across the country have agreed to call off their strike within the next one week.
The minister further called on affected students to “take ASUU to court” as the government was liable for any time wasted as a result of the strike.
