Goni Bukar Lawan, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Yobe State, is dead.

Lawan, a former member of the House of Representatives, died in a car crash on Tuesday night, while on the road to Kano State.

He was with another male adult in the vehicle when the fatal incident occured at about 6:15pm.

His demise was confirmed by the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, on Wednesday..

Yusuf said the crash occured adjacent to A.Y. Dagauda Fueling Station at Dagauda Village, along Dambam – Potiskum in Dambam local government area of the state.

Abdullahi said, “The lone fatal crash happened on Tuesday at about 6.15 pm and immediately we were informed, our men rushed to the scene within 12 minutes for a rescue operation.

“The incident happened along Dambam – Potiskum road, adjacent to A.Y. Dagauda Fueling Station at Dagauda Village, along Kum in Dambam local government area of Bauchi state.

“It involved a government vehicle, a Lexus Jeep – GX 470 – with registration number: 11A01YB.

“The vehicle was driven by Hon. Goni Bukar Lawn and he was with one other male adult when the crash happened. The other person sustained some injuries.

“The crash was caused by a speed violation which led to a loss of control.”

The other victim was evacuated by personnel of the Motor Transport Division of the Nigeria Police Force of the Dambam Divisional Headquarters to the Dambam General Hospital for treatment.
