Bricklayer Sentenced for Theft of School Ceiling Fans in Ogun | Daily Report Nigeria

On Thursday, the Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sentenced Temitope Oladimeji, a 46-year-old bricklayer, to a one-year prison term for stealing two ORL ceiling fans worth N39,000 from the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Abeokuta.

Magistrate V B Williams-Oyetunji delivered the sentence after Oladimeji pleaded guilty to the theft charge. The convict was denied the option of a fine and must serve the full term.

During the trial, Prosecutor Lawrence Olu-Balogun revealed that Oladimeji committed the offense in November 2023 while working as a bricklayer at the school.

Olu-Balogun alleged that Oladimeji had been stealing valuables during his visits to the institution, leading to his arrest after a search of his home uncovered the stolen ceiling fans.

Oladimeji confessed to the thefts of other missing items after his arrest. The offenses violated sections 383 and 390 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
