Buhari Appoints In-law, Ahmed Halilu MD of NSPMC
President Buhari apponts his brother in-law, Ahmed Halilu MD of NSPMC

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Ahmed Halilu as Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, NSPMC.

Halilu, who is the elder brother to the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, had been heading the company in charge of printing naira, in an acting capacity since May 16, 2022.

The development followed the resignation of Abbas Masanawa in compliance with President Buhari’s directive for appointees seeking elective offices to resign before May 16.

Masanawa resigned to contest the governorship primary election in Katsina State under the ruling All Progressive Congress but lost out.

Halilu’s appointment is said to have been strongly backed by the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, who is the chairman of NSPMC.

Halilu, is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), and has worked with African International Bank Limited (AIB) and Zenith Bank Plc before joining the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company.

He has over 23 years of experience in the Banking industry, and holds a Masters degree in International Affairs & Diplomacy, Masters in Business Administration, and Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture B. (Agric). He obtained the certificates from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
