Buhari Swears in Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as Chief Justice of Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, swore in Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The swearing-in ceremony, which took place shortly before the kick-off of this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting was witnessed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, ministers, other Justices of the Supreme Court, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and his Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu amongst others

Recall that following the resignation of the outgone CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad, on health grounds, Justice Ariwoola took over in an acting capacity.

Speaking to the State House correspondents shortly after the swearing-in, Ariwoola urged politicians vying for various electoral offices in next year’s elections to allow the judiciary to function properly.
