Four years after vanishing without explanation, a former undergraduate of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has been found alive in Kaduna, living quietly with an Islamic scholar.
The student, Shafiu Auwal Ibrahim, disappeared in 2021 from the Janbulo area in Kano. His sudden disappearance devastated his parents and relatives, who searched endlessly for him through police reports, local networks, and public announcements.

When all efforts yielded nothing, the family eventually surrendered to the painful belief that he might be dead.
Recently, after renewing their search, his relatives traced him to a village in Kaduna. He was found in the care of an Islamic cleric who claimed he met Shafiu years ago and decided to accommodate him.

According to a family member: “He was found in a village with a cleric. The cleric said that when he first saw him, he looked mentally unstable and he decided to take him in.”
The family expressed overwhelming relief and gratitude, saying Shafiu is now home, calm, and in good health. The discovery has brought closure to years of unanswered questions and emotional distress.
