Grammy-winning singer Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, has reignited the debate over who is Nigeria’s top artist with his bold claim in the remix of the South African hit ‘Tshwala Bam’ by TitoM and Yuppe.

In the opening verse of the remix, released last week, Burna Boy confidently declares himself the godfather of the Nigerian music industry, singing, “As long as Naija la wa…Them they call me the Godfather.”

Burna Boy has consistently positioned himself as the leader in the Nigerian music scene, especially after his Grammy win.

This assertion has sparked controversy, as his colleague Davido has also claimed the title of Afrobeats’ leader. On his track ‘Godfather’ from his fourth studio album, ‘Timeless,’ Davido asserts his own claim to being the godfather of Nigerian music.
