Burnley have gained promotion back to the English Premier League after spending just one season in the Championship.

Their return to the top flight was secured with a fine performance after winning the Championship title.

The Clarets sealed automatic promotion with victory over Middlesbrough on Friday night at the Riverside Stadium the match ended 2-1.

Ashley Barnes gave the visitors a lead with a brilliant opener just 12 minutes into the game, While the Skybet Championship top scorer, Chuba Akpom levelled for Boro from the spot just two minutes into the second half.

Six minutes later, Connor Roberts grabbed the winner for Burnley to seal their promotion back to the Premier League.

With the win, the Clarets garnered 87 points from 39 games, enough for automatic promotion to the top-tier English football.
