The Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Commission, Shedrack Agediga, has described the calls for zoning in Burutu Federal Constituency as divisive propaganda.
Agediga stated this while receiving the Burutu Credibility Front led by Darlington Owan, in Warri, last week.
The revered peace and humanitarian advocate vehemently described the calls as a divisive agenda, made to cause distraction within the ranks of the People’s Democratic Party in Burutu.

He labelled as embarrassing, seeing members of the ruling party in Burutu being led by a known opposition member to propagate a gospel aimed at destroying the PDP.
He called for the members of the PDP being led by a member of the opposition as well as their direct leaders to be scrutinized by the party over anti-party activities.
“What is going on is a divisive propaganda. This is a distraction. It is an embarrassment to the PDP as far as I am concerned.
“The people fronting and gallivanting with this zoning message are known followers of leaders of Burutu. We need to find out if they have the blessings of their bosses before embarking on this journey, else, why are they not being called to order.
“How come known boys of leaders in Burutu are going about with this agenda of calling for zoning and their bosses are not saying anything?” he wondered.
Agediga emphasized that zoning has never been used as a factor in determining a candidate for the Green Chambers in Burutu Federal Constituency.
He described zoning as an elementary arrangement that Burutu Federal Constituency has long outgrown, adding that lawmakers are at liberty to contest as many times they want.
“Lawmakers have the leverage to contest as many times they want. No certain number of tenure is tied to them. If you’re not doing well, the people will vote you out.
“Whoever thinks they have the capacity to represent Burutu people should come out and see if they will be voted in. Not to come under any guise called zoning,” he said.
Agediga commended the BCF for seeing the need to remind and awaken leaders of Burutu of the gimmicks of the elements of distraction and divide, charging that the group remain focused in its mission.
He noted that leaders of Burutu are aware that zoning has never been a conversation to determine who represents the people at any time, adding that those calling for zoning are merely seeking sympathy and cheap public attention.
