A court sentence has ended unfavorable for a Canadian Lady who was arraigned for drug trafficking.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that a 41-year-old woman, identified was parades amongst other criminals by the NDLEA for importing illicit drugs into the country.

Munju, who was arrested at the terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos on Thursday 3rd October 2024, was said to have imported 74 parcels of Canadian Loud weighing 35.20 kilograms into Nigeria.

While being arraigned before Justice Dehinde Dipeolu, she confessed to have been contracted for the operation through an online platform, and was supposed to be paid 10,000 Canadian dollars upon successful delivery in Lagos.

Justice Dipeolu convicted and sentenced Muju to the term of imprisonment after she pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against her by NDLEA.

Delivering the sentence, the judge sentenced Munju to six years imprisonment on count one and five years on count two.

The judge however gave the convict an option of N50 million fine on each of the two counts, bringing the total fine to N100 million.
