Carlo Ancelotti Named Luka Modric as New Real Madrid Captain as Nacho Departs

Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has chosen a new captain following Nacho Fernandez’s departure from the club as a free agent this summer. Nacho is set to join the newly-promoted Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsia.

According to COPE, veteran midfielder Luka Modric will take over as the new captain of Real Madrid. Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez will serve as vice-captains.

Despite losing Nacho and the retiring Toni Kroos, Real Madrid still boasts a lot of experience within their squad. This marks the fourth consecutive year the club has lost their captain, following the exits of Marcelo, Karim Benzema, and Sergio Ramos.
