A Nigerian priest has sparked widespread discussion online after proudly sharing photos of his wife and children, challenging the common perception that all Catholic priests must remain celibate.

The images, which made rounds on social media, caught many by surprise as they appeared to contradict the celibacy rule traditionally associated with Catholicism.

One user, @gabrielleamakat, questioned the legitimacy of his marriage, asking, “Are you people allowed to marry? And is it the same mass and how do we differentiate the parishes? Do you attend same seminary?”

In response, the priest clarified his position, stating: “I’m a Catholic priest, not Roman Catholic.” This distinction drew attention to the existence of other Catholic traditions outside the Roman Catholic Church, some of which permit clergy to marry.

His explanation has since sparked further conversation around the various branches of Catholicism and their differing doctrines regarding priesthood and marriage.

Police Arrest Two International Fugitives Wanted for Human Trafficking, Armed Robbery

The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended two fugitives wanted by international authorities—Felix Omoregie and Okwudili Ezeje—for serious crimes including human trafficking and armed robbery.

Felix Omoregie, also known as “Eghosa Johnson Omoregie,” was captured in Benin City, Edo State, while Okwudili Ezeje, aged 37, was arrested in Nsukka, Enugu State. The arrests were carried out in collaboration with the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja.
