Speaking at the burial, Bala Mohammed, represented by the Commissioner of Information, Usman Shehu Usman, expressed condolences and announced automatic employment for Ben’s wife, Sarah, into the Bauchi State civil service.
The governor had earlier visited injured journalists at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, ensuring they received proper care.
Tributes from officials highlighted Ben’s dedication, humility, and professionalism. The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, described him as a committed cameraman and “a quiet gentleman who documented history rain or shine.”
The North East Development Commission (NEDC) also mourned his passing, offering prayers for the repose of his soul. Rt. Rev. Cletus Dading, in a vote of thanks, lauded the governor’s gesture and prayed for blessings upon him.
This move is seen as both a mark of respect for Kani Ben’s service and a gesture of support to his bereaved family.
