Chelsea has successfully put an end to the transfer saga surrounding defender Levi Colwill by reaching a new six-year contract agreement with him, thwarting Brighton’s interest in the player.

According to The Athletic, negotiations for the academy graduate’s long-term deal have concluded, though the new terms are yet to be officially signed.

  • New six-year contract agreed
  • Brighton showed interest following a successful loan
  • Chelsea is poised to secure his commitment

Nonetheless, Colwill is set to reject Brighton’s advances and commit to Chelsea until 2029.

Despite having two years remaining on his previous contract, Colwill garnered interest from Brighton after his successful loan spell during the 2022-23 season.

Brighton’s attempts to acquire him were met with rejection, and they even sought to include him in a deal for their midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Notably, the 20-year-old impressed during pre-season, earning reassurances from new head coach Mauricio Pochettino about his role in the squad.

Even with the imminent arrival of Axel Disasi from Monaco, Colwill’s position remains secure as he has been brought in to cover for the injured Wesley Fofana.

Chelsea, under Pochettino’s leadership, has remained unbeaten so far, and they are set to play their final pre-season tour game against Borussia Dortmund in Chicago on Wednesday night.
