With all determination, Chelsea is bent on re-signing Romelu Lukaku despite having their second offer of £85m for the Belgium striker rejected by Inter Milan.

It would cause left-back Marcos Alonso to move to the Serie A club.

Chelsea has been quite convincing in their negotiations with Inter to re-sign the striker. From the view of things,  there might be real hope that both parties will come to an understanding.

To gain the upper hands in the bidding process, Chelsea has increased their second offer to Inter for the Belgium international.

From the to £85m (€100m) plus left-back Marcos Alonso.

Premier League rivals Manchester City had proposed their interest earlier this year, but no offer was made.

At that time, Inter showed no intention of selling the 28-year-old Lukaku.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel refused to address the transfer situation directly but described Lukaku as a “fantastic player.”

Tuchel said that he would not talk about players who don’t play in his squad. He went further by saying Romelu Lukaku is a fantastic player. Since he’s a player from Inter,  it’s best to respect him.

So, he won’t talk about him in that situation.

Asked about Lukaku having expressed his desire to return to Stamford Bridge, Tuchel added: “Everybody wants to come [to Chelsea] hopefully.

He added that; The board is not offering players. It works in a different procedure. A meeting we had with the board about players, and if their opinions and the scouts conclude, then we target players who, in all our opinion, could add value to the squad and make it stronger.

The Chelsea coach said that talent is not all; attitude also is a criterion.  It is because we have a strong squad, and there are some players who we think could be a good target and good add-ons, and good improvement in our team.

Lukaku had an impressive last season, in which Inter Milan won the Serie A Scudetto. He scored 24 goals last season.

Chelsea is going all out to sign a world-class striker.

In 2011, Lukaku spent three years at Chelsea after signing from Anderlecht as a teenager.  He failed to score a goal.

This made then Chelsea Boss Jose Mourinho sell him to Everton for £28m in July 2014.

He was close to a return in July 2017 but opted to join Manchester United for £75m.

Later, he moved to Inter after falling out of favor with the United coach for £73m two years ago.
