The international football body, FIFA, on Thursday opened voting for the 2025 edition of The Best FIFA Football Awards, revealing the list of players and coaches competing for top honours. Among those shortlisted is Nigeria’s own Chiamaka Nnadozie, whose rise in global women’s football continues to draw attention.

Nnadozie made the list alongside world-class goalkeepers such as Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany), Cata Coll (Spain), Christiane Endler (Chile), Hannah Hampton (England), Anna Moorhouse (England) and Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA).

The 24 year old earned her nomination after a remarkable 2024/25 campaign. She was instrumental in guiding Paris FC to the Coupe de France Féminine, giving the club their first major trophy in nearly two decades. Her penalty-saving heroics throughout the season earned widespread praise and cemented her reputation as one of the best shot-stoppers in Europe.

On the international stage, Nnadozie was just as dominant. She played a key role in helping Nigeria win a historic 10th WAFCON title in Morocco, where she was voted Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

 

After signing with Brighton & Hove Albion Women in England, she has continued her impressive form, earning global recognition beyond Africa. In October, she became the first Nigerian goalkeeper to be nominated for the Women’s Yachine Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, where she finished in fourth place.

Nnadozie is also in contention for her third consecutive CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, reinforcing her status as the best in Africa.

FIFA announced that voting for the FIFA Best Women’s Goalkeeper Award will remain open until November 28, with the award ceremony scheduled for early next year.
