Nigerian-South African beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina recently shared the personal challenges she faced during her journey in the pageant world. During an interview on the Big Friday Show with Tacha, a former Big Brother Naija contestant, Chidimma opened up about her struggles with identity issues due to her dual citizenship.
When asked why she decided to pursue pageantry full-time, Chidimma revealed her long-standing dream of becoming Miss Universe. “It’s something I started recently, but I’ve had this dream since 2017. I’m really glad to have been given the platform and opportunity to try and achieve that goal,” she said.
Chidimma Adetshina also spoke about how she coped with her identity crisis, saying, “It’s been a long journey and really hard at times. There were nights I cried myself to sleep, asking, ‘Why me?’ I had to change my perspective to see that these challenges could lead to something great.”

Her interview comes after her departure from the Miss South Africa pageant, following allegations of fraud and identity theft involving her mother by the South African Home Office.
Chidimma Adetshina faced criticism in South Africa when she was announced as a contestant for Miss South Africa, but later accepted an invitation from the Silverbird Group to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
