Meanwhile, France’s L’Equipe reported Froome arrived conscious and spoke to medics, which offered immediate reassurance to fans.

Froome joined Israel–Premier Tech in 2021 and raced the Tour of Poland earlier this month, finishing 68th.

He has not returned to his pre-2019 peak after a heavy Criterium du Dauphiné crash, and his last major win was the 2018 Giro d’Italia, which completed his Grand Tour sweep.

The team will post updates after the operation. For now, supporters and cycling media will closely follow his rehab.
