The artist behind the hit “Love Nwantiti” asserted that he has been a pioneer of various trends within the genre.
Reflecting on how he began promoting Afrobeats songs on TikTok, CKay noted that those who once ridiculed him are now following suit. On his X account, he stated,

He emphasized, “CKay is the first. I pioneered many vibes Afrobeats artists thrive off today… If you know, you know. People laughed when I came up with emo-afrobeat and spent time on TikTok, but many are now doing the same thing, giving it different names and making money. You’re welcome.”
