In what has been condemned as a favouritism move by the military, naval officers were alleged to have invaded the community through land and waterways.

An anonymous source who spoke with our correspondent explained that the officers had “come in during the day and shot sporadically to cause tension in the community.”

However, the officers were said to have returned to take over the community in the late hours of Thursday, July 27.

“It is however, sad that the military saddled with the responsibility of quelling this crisis came into attack Ogbe-Ijoh community through land and water routes,” the source said.

The source further pleaded with the “Delta State Government to find a lasting solution to the lingering crises that has claimed an innumerable lives.”

While no casualties have been ascertained, several persons were reportedly left injured from Thursday’s shoot out.

The Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja crisis stretches back three decades and the Delta State Government has consistently failed to find a lasting solution to it.
