Agency urges public to report suspicious sales and avoid health risks
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted Nigerians to the circulation of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachets across the country.
In a statement released on August 22, 2025, the agency disclosed that Promasidor Nigeria Ltd, the registered Marketing Authorisation Holder and Manufacturer, had stopped producing the “Our Milk” variant in September 2023, replacing it with Cowbell “Our Creamy Goodness.”
Despite this, fake products mimicking the discontinued packaging have emerged in circulation. NAFDAC confirmed that these counterfeits unlawfully carry the Cowbell brand name, registration number, and packaging design but are not manufactured or authorised by Promasidor.
The agency warned that consumption of such counterfeit milk poses grave health risks, as the products may contain toxic chemicals, unauthorised additives, or diluted ingredients. Infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly were identified as the most vulnerable groups.
