Court Affirms Labour Party’s Dennis Agbo as Enugu Rep, Ousts Atigwe | Daily Report Nigeria

The Court of Appeal in Enugu has officially dismissed Hon. Simon Atigwe from his position as a member of the House of Representatives, affirming Hon. Dennis Nnamdi Agbo of the Labour Party (LP) as the rightful representative for the Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency.

This landmark decision was delivered by a unanimous three-member panel, led by Justice Ekanem.

The ruling reinforces the earlier verdict of the Election Petition Tribunal, which had declared Agbo the winner of the contentious re-run election held on February 3, 2024.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had initially declared Atigwe the victor, leading to Agbo’s appeal.

The wheel of justice turns slowly, but it grinds. Truth and justice have prevailed, no matter the wait. Dennis Agbo has prevailed!”

Agbo’s journey to reclaim his seat has been marked by legal battles, stemming from his initial victory in the February 25, 2023 election, which was later overturned by the appellate court.

Following this latest ruling, he has successfully navigated the judicial process to secure his position.
