  • A Federal High Court in Abuja has allowed the federal government to present witnesses behind screens in the terrorism charges against Nnamdi Kanu.

  • The court granted the request to protect the witnesses’ identities for security reasons, as the charges against Kanu relate to terrorism.

  • The first witness, code-named PWAAA, has begun testifying as the government opens its case against Kanu.

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted permission to the federal government to present its witnesses behind screens in the terrorism charges brought against Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The court’s decision was based on an ex-parte application filed by the federal government’s lawyer, Chief Adegboyega Solomon, SAN, who argued that the witnesses’ identities needed to be protected for security reasons. Kanu’s lawyer, Kanu Agabi SAN, did not object to the request.

With the court’s approval, the first witness, code-named PWAAA, has commenced testifying as the government formally opens its case against Kanu.
