A Lagos court has discharged and acquitted Nigerian celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, of any involvement in the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, bringing an end to a long-running legal battle that began in 2022.
The ruling was delivered on Monday, December 15, 2025, nearly three years after IVD was accused by his late wife’s family of causing her death following a domestic fire incident at their Lagos home.

IVD had been standing trial on allegations of involuntary manslaughter after Bimbo Ogbonna sustained fatal injuries during the fire outbreak in October 2022. The case sparked widespread public debate and intense media scrutiny.
Reacting to the court’s decision, IVD’s partner and self-styled relationship therapist, Blessing CEO, announced the verdict on her Instagram page, describing the outcome as a victory for justice.

“Discharged and acquitted, 15th December 2025. It ended in praise. Four years of tears and false narratives. Nigeria’s justice system still works. IVD, you can now have your life back,” she wrote.
Blessing CEO also used the moment to advise Nigerians to leave unhealthy relationships before things escalate.
“If marriage or relationship no dey work, please run. Don’t wait for anybody to pass,” she added.
Recall that in March 2023, IVD was arraigned by the Lagos State Government and charged with involuntary manslaughter before being granted bail.
In August 2025, he was rearrested by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions while travelling to Qatar ahead of his planned wedding with Blessing CEO. The arrest reignited public attention on the case before Monday’s final ruling cleared him of all charges.
