The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on the first count of the seven terrorism charges filed against him by the federal government.

Justice James Omotosho, who delivered the ruling on Thursday, relied on evidence presented by the prosecution, including multiple video interviews where Kanu allegedly issued violent threats against Nigeria and its citizens.

The court held that the prosecution successfully established the elements of the first terrorism charge, clearing the path for further consideration of the six remaining counts.
