Kano State Magistrates’ Court has directed the immediate arrest of Talban Warawa, Abubakar Idris, the village head of Warawa Local Government Area, over allegations of sexual assault that reportedly led to the pregnancy of his housemaid. The order comes after Idris failed to appear in court for six consecutive sessions despite previously being granted bail.
The traditional leader, Talban Warawa, had earlier been released on bail, but his absence from six consecutive court sittings triggered concern from Magistrate Hafsa Yahaya. Barrister Hassan Danjuma Balarabe, representing the accused, asked the court for another date, assuring the magistrate that Warawa would appear.

Dissatisfied with the repeated absences, the magistrate instructed the Commissioner of Police to ensure that the village head is immediately arrested and brought before the court.
The case is scheduled to continue on December 3. The allegations involve the sexual assault of his housemaid, which reportedly resulted in her pregnancy, stirring public outrage and calls for justice.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges in holding influential figures accountable and the need for the legal system to protect vulnerable victims.
