A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has ordered the Department of State Services to release the President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, from detention.

Justice Mohammed Zubairu described Bodejo’s detention since December 9 without being charged to court as unlawful.

“The applicant is hereby released from the 2nd respondent’s detention,” the judge ruled.

Bodejo’s counsel, Reuben Atabo, had told the court that his client was yet to be charged to court as ordered by the judge during the last hearing.

Atabo urged the court to invoke its judicial power to release Bodejo from detention, undertaking to produce him whenever needed for trial.

Counsel to the DSS, A.M. Danlami, however, urged the court to make an order that Bodejo should be produced to the respondents when a charge is preferred against him.
