  • The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of $4.7 million, N830 million, and multiple properties linked to Godwin Emefiele.

  •  The forfeiture request was filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which alleged that the funds were proceeds of unlawful activities.

  •  The funds were held in accounts managed by various individuals and entities, including Omoile Anita Joy and several limited companies.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of $4.7 million, N830 million, and multiple properties linked to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

Justice Yellim Bogoro gave the judgement following a forfeiture request filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to EFCC counsel, Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, the funds were held in accounts managed by individuals and entities, including Omoile Anita Joy, Deep Blue Energy Service Limited, Exactquote Bureau De Change Ltd, Lipam Investment Services Limited, Tatler Services Limited, Rosajul Global Resources Ltd, and TIL Communication Nigeria Ltd.

These accounts were with First Bank, Titan Bank, and Zenith Bank.

The EFCC alleged that the funds were proceeds of unlawful activities, citing Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, and Section 44(2)(b) of the Nigerian Constitution.

Justice Bogoro ordered the interim forfeiture and mandated the publication of the order in a national newspaper, inviting interested parties to show cause within 14 days why a final forfeiture order should not be granted.

753 duplexes forfeited by court belongs to Emefiele – Sowore alleges

The 2023 Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has stated that the 753 duplexes forfeited by an Abuja High Court belongs to former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

He disclosed this in a statement on X on Monday, while reacting to the forfeiture of the estates.
