Court Remands Cemetery Worker  for Alleged Rape of Minor in Ondo | Daily Report Nigeria

A 32-year-old cemetery worker identified as Seun Owoyemi has been remanded at Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly raping a female minor.

It was gathered that the suspect committed the offence on January 10 at Igesa Street, Igbara-Oke, headquarters of Ifedore local government.

He was accused of luring the minor with N100 and having unlawful carnal knowledge of her twice, which is contrary to the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State.

Owoyemi, however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It was alleged that he accused the victim and her grandmother of trying to implicate him in his statement.

O.L. Abu, the Presiding Magistrate, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a Correctional Centre, and also gave an order for the case file to be duplicated and sent to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

The case was adjourned to February 28, 2022, for mentioning.
