A Kano State Chief Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 47-year-old Chinese national, Geng Quanrong, who was accused of killing his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend, Ummukulthum Buhari in the state.
The state Police Command had on Wednesday arraigned Quanrong for murdering Buhari, who was also a graduate of Agriculture Science from the Kampala University, Uganda at her home.
K. A. Hashim, a senior state counsel who appeared for the prosecution, pleaded the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre while awaiting issuance of legal advice from the Office of the Attorney-General of Kano State.

The chief magistrate, Hanif Yusuf, granted the request and adjourned the case till October 13.
On September 17, the Chinese according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, invaded the deceased home through a fence and stabbed her repeatedly until she died.
Buhari was then buried on Saturday, September 17.
