70-year-old Alto Ado has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Jigawa State High Court sitting in Kazaure for defiling three girls.
The suspect was detained on October 14, 2020, for allegedly enticing two minors, ages seven and nine, into an unfinished building in Kazaure town and forcefully having carnal knowledge of them.
The watchman was later arrested and charged to court for rape. During the trial, the prosecution counsel presented five witnesses to testify against the suspect.
In ruling the case the presiding Judge, Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu said Rape is punishable under Section 3 of the Penal Code (Miscellaneous Amendment) Law 2014.
It was further stated that the evidence offered by the prosecution counsel proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Ado was therefore sentenced to life imprisonment.
