A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has sentenced one hacker, Eric Obulo, to one-year imprisonment for hacking into a commercial bank database and defrauding it to the tune of $70,000 (N26.9m).

The judgement presided over by Justice Sani, convicted and sentenced Obulo to the prison, while with an option fine of N5m.

The crime was committed in Port Harcourt, July, 2019.

Obulo was convicted after being re-arraigned by the Port Harcourt zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on one count of unlawful interception by technical means with the bank database.
