The Federal Government of Nigeria has lamented over the low critical level of hospital capacity as it can no longer cope with more serious COVID-19 cases.

This was made known by the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, while speaking at the PTF briefing in Abuja on Monday, January 11, as he disclosed that the country has recorded over 100,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 1,300 deaths.

While urging citizens to take precautions in containing the further spread of the deadly virus, Ihekweazu said health workers may be forced to make tough decisions.

“We need to protect our more vulnerable citizens. We all have to take responsibility, this is not for NCDC, PTF or government alone,” he said.
