Portugal’s captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has spoken out following their exit from Euro 2024.

France dashed Ronaldo’s hopes of securing another championship in his sixth and final European Championship on Friday night.

With no goals scored in 120 minutes, Les Bleus triumphed in the subsequent penalty shootout.

Cristiano Ronaldo netted during the shootout, but Joao Felix’s attempt hit the crossbar.

Reflecting on their campaign, Ronaldo shared on Instagram: “We aimed higher. We deserved more. For ourselves. For each and every one of you. For Portugal.

“We appreciate everything you’ve given us and all we’ve achieved so far.

“Both on and off the field, I’m confident this legacy will be honored and continued. Together.”
