A Federal High Court in Lagos has further adjourned the case against celebrity bartender Pascal Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chief Priest, to June 25. The case involves alleged abuse of the Naira.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Okechukwu on April 17 on three counts of spraying and tampering with Naira notes during a social event at Eko Hotel in Lagos. Okechukwu pleaded not guilty and was granted bail set at N10 million.
During the previous hearing on May 2, Okechukwu’s defense counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), informed the court that both parties were exploring a settlement under Section 14(2) of the EFCC Act. The defense then withdrew their preliminary objection with no opposition from the prosecution, and the court agreed to the withdrawal.
