A truckload of various wares including thousands of live ammunitions has been intercepted by the Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘C’ Owerri of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) along the Elele-Port Harcourt Road in Rivers state.
The Custom officers also impounded 2,682 bags of 50kg imported rice and six different truckloads of vegetable oil consisting of over 10, 000 cartons imported from Malaysia, which all amounted to a N442,473, 000 Duty Paid Value.

Olusemire Kayode, the Customs Area Controller of Zone C, Owerri, hinted newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital, that the service intercepted live rounds of ammunition totalling 3,122 on the Elele-Port Harcourt Road.

Kayode explained that the bullets were hidden among other goods including computers and were way-billed all the way from Onitsha, Anambra State to Rivers State”.
