A man has been arrested for allegedly killing a sex worker in Sokoto state.

According to reports, the customer allegedly stabbed the sex worker to death during a fight in the Dange/Shuni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

 

The fight was reported to have ensued when the victim rejected the N1000 he gave her.

According to an eyewitness, an alarm was raised, and the suspect was apprehended when he attempted to run away after discovering that the victim was dead.

 

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Sokoto state police command, DSP Sanusi Abubakar said the suspect claimed to be a researcher who visited Sokoto to carry out research, and he had decided to stay with the victim’s brother but said that the fight started when the suspect paid the victim N1,000.

 

He also said that the victim rejected the money, which resulted in a fight. The suspect added that the victim allegedly brought out a knife, which he (the suspect) used to stab her after he overpowered her.

Abubakar added that the case had been transferred to the homicide section of the Command for proper investigation
