The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded another major success in the war against drug trafficking after intercepting a substance suspected to be hard drugs along the Gbaji–Seme Road. The seized drugs, identified as crystal methamphetamine, have an estimated street value of N562.5 million.
Comptroller of the unit, Mohammed Shuaibu, made the disclosure during a brief handover ceremony held at the command’s office. He revealed that the operation took place around 5:00 pm on October 17, 2025, following credible intelligence received by the patrol team.

According to him, the suspect, identified as Uduak Monday, was found with a nylon bag carefully wrapped with sellotape. Upon inspection, officers discovered that the bag contained Ice Crystal Methamphetamine weighing 25 kilogrammes.
Shuaibu described the seizure as a reflection of the unit’s unwavering commitment to combating drug smuggling and reiterated the importance of collaboration between security agencies. He assured that the Customs Service would continue to work closely with partners such as the NDLEA to ensure that drug traffickers face the full weight of the law.
The seized substance and the suspect were formally handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
Receiving the suspect on behalf of the NDLEA Chairman, the Commander of Narcotics, Lagos State Strategic Command, Abubakar Liman, praised the NCS for its consistent support in the fight against drug trafficking in Nigeria.

Liman noted that the Customs Service has played a vital role in strengthening operational synergy between both agencies. He promised to keep the Customs updated as the suspect’s case progresses in court.
He also commended the FOU for helping to deepen the implementation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the NDLEA and the NCS to enhance coordinated anti-smuggling operations.
