According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Kayode Wey, the operation took place on Wednesday, August 14, and was part of a broader strategy to combat the smuggling of illegal and harmful substances.
The Customs Area Controller, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, stated that the seizure highlighted the extent smugglers would go to distribute illegal drugs and demonstrated the command’s commitment to thwarting such efforts.
Oramalugo added that the command was determined to prevent illegal substances from infiltrating society, citing the adverse impact of Cannabis Sativa on public health, especially on youth.
The seized Cannabis Sativa will be handed over to the appropriate authorities (NDLEA) for further investigation and disposal, according to the law.
