The Ogun Area 1 Command of the Nigerian Customs Service has seized illicit drugs worth ₦117,587,405 in Duty Paid Value.
The contraband, which includes large quantities of cannabis sativa and Tramaking tablets, was intercepted across strategic locations in Ogun State.
During a media briefing on Friday, Comptroller James Ojo, the Command’s Controller, highlighted the growing issue of drug smuggling as a significant threat to national security.

The drugs seized include 403 sacks and 6,504 parcels of cannabis sativa, weighing a total of 7,217.7 kg, as well as 362 packs of Tramaking tablets.
These drugs were seized from areas such as Agbawo/Iganokoto and Imeko Afon Local Government Areas.
Ojo commended his officers for their vigilance and strategic operations, which led to the seizure of substantial quantities of illicit substances between January and November 2024.
He also issued a stern warning to drug traffickers, urging them to cease their activities or face the full force of the law.
The contraband was handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), with NDLEA Commander Olusegun Adeyeye praising the collaboration between the NDLEA and Customs in the ongoing fight against drug smuggling.
