The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized $193,000 hidden in a yogurt carton at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The money was discovered in the luggage of a passenger arriving from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Ethiopian Airlines Flight No. 951.
The NCS spokesman, Abdullahi Maiwada, confirmed that the seized money has been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further investigation.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has made a significant seizure at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, discovering $193,000 hidden in a yogurt carton. According to NCS spokesman Abdullahi Maiwada, the money was found in the luggage of a passenger arriving from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Ethiopian Airlines Flight No. 951.
Maiwada explained that customs officers conducted a detailed inspection of the passenger’s luggage after receiving intelligence, leading to the discovery of the concealed cash.
He stated, “Acting on intelligence, Customs officers conducted a detailed inspection, leading to the discovery of the concealed cash.”

The NCS spokesman emphasised that the failure to declare the money contravenes the Anti-Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 and the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023. Maiwada noted that advanced scanning technology helped detect irregularities in the passenger’s luggage, prompting a more thorough examination.
The seized money has been formally handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Men of the Nigerian custom service have seized tons of cannabis from two suspects.
According to reports, the body recovered a total of 4,973 loaves of Cannabis sativa, from the two yet-to-be-identified suspects.
