The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says a total of 9.891 million Nigerians have pre-registered online in the first phase of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, confirmed in a statement that 2,572,054 applicants have successfully completed their registration through both online and in-person processes nationwide.

She announced that the first phase of the CVR will close on December 10, 2025, after which the preliminary voters’ register will be displayed for claims and objections from December 15 to 21 at all designated local government offices.

Eta-Messi recalled that the CVR commenced on 18 August 2025 with online pre-registration, followed by physical enrolment on 25 August 2025 across the 774 local government areas, state offices, and the FCT.

“In accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, the Commission will begin the display of the register of voters for claims and objections from 15th to 21st December 2025,” she said.

She added that the second phase of the nationwide CVR will resume on January 15, 2026, as part of the Commission’s preparations ahead of subsequent electoral activities.
