Nigeria’s D Tigress will face the defending champions, the United States, in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Olympic Games.

Rena Wakama’s team secured their spot in the last eight with a hard-fought 79-70 win over Canada on Sunday. They completed the group stage with two victories and one loss.

D Tigress started strong with a 75-62 win against Australia but fell to host nation France 75-54 in their second game. Their advancement to the quarter-finals makes them the first African basketball team, male or female, to achieve this milestone at the Olympics.

The USA, on the other hand, won all three of their group matches against Japan, Belgium, and Germany. The quarter-final game will take place at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy Arena in Lille on Wednesday.
