Controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze, has sparked outrage after mocking residents of mainland Lagos who are experiencing flooding.

In a Facebook post, he wrote, “Mainland too is flooded…. Shebi dem dey laugh us for island, now na their turn.” (Translation: “Mainland is also flooded… They used to laugh at us on the island, now it’s their turn.”)

This comes after heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding in Lagos and neighboring Ogun State, affecting major roads and communities.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, attributed the flooding to intense rainfall and high tidal levels, assuring the public that the situation is temporary and will subside within one to two hours.

Daddy Freeze’s post has been criticized for its insensitivity, with many calling out his lack of empathy for those affected.
