Dangote Donates N1.5bn to Borno Flood Victims, Shettima Visits Niger | Daily Report Nigeria

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has donated N1.5 billion to victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The donation comprises N1 billion allocated to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate with the Borno State Government and an additional N500 million from the Aliko Dangote Foundation.

During a visit to assess the impact of the flood, Dangote stated that NEMA had requested funding, which was approved by his company. He emphasized that the donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured that the Federal Government will continue to provide relief to flood victims in severely affected states.

He made this statement during an assessment visit to the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Gwada, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

Shettima emphasized that the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains focused on effective governance and the welfare of all Nigerians beyond political considerations.

He noted that the Federal and State governments, along with NEMA, are actively working to enhance support for displaced communities.

The Vice President recalled that the federal government had already disbursed N3 billion to each state to address flooding issues, but emphasized that this was just the beginning of a more comprehensive support plan.

He explained that states’ eligibility to receive additional federal government support would be evidence-driven and based on detailed assessments of needs.

The FG’s delegation included the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Abdullahi; Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Ibrahim Hadejia, and Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar.
