The company had earlier approached the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), accusing Ahmed of allegedly spending about $5 million on his children’s secondary education in Switzerland.

Although Dangote recently withdrew the petition from the ICPC, the anti-graft agency has maintained that its investigation into the allegations would continue.

According to the statement, the decision to approach the EFCC was taken after the withdrawal from the ICPC, and was described as “a strategic move aimed at accelerating the prosecution process.”

In the fresh petition to the EFCC, signed by Lead Counsel, Dr. O.J. Onoja, SAN, Dangote urged the commission to thoroughly investigate allegations of abuse of office and corrupt enrichment against Ahmed.

The petition further requested the EFCC to prosecute the former NMDPRA boss if investigations establish a case against him.

The latest move deepens the high-profile dispute between Dangote and the former petroleum regulator chief, drawing renewed attention to allegations of corruption within Nigeria’s oil and gas regulatory space.
