Dangote Drops As South African Man Emerges Richest Man In Africa

Nigerian bussines mogul, Aliko Dangote has been dethroned as Africa’s richest man.

The bussines tycoon, whose wealth mostly comes from his large 80% shares in Dangote cement has been lifted from his seat by South African Johann Rupert.

 

Rupert, according to Bloomberg how grown his wealth to $13.65 billion, making him the 154th richest person in the world.

Dangote on the other hand lost the rank due to the fall in the value of naira, and as at Friday, August 2, 2024, his total net worth was $13.6 billion.

Rupert, whose wealth comes mostly from Cie Financière Richemont, which is the world’s biggest luxury watchmaker and a publicly shared company that makes and sells luxury goods had grown his wealth  by $1.21billion from January to August 2024
