Move opens direct access to more marketers, with credit option available
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has lowered the minimum volume of petrol that marketers can purchase directly from its facility, reducing the requirement from 500,000 litres to 250,000 litres.
The refinery confirmed that the gantry price of petrol remains N699 per litre, maintaining the recent reduction from N828 per litre earlier in December.

The announcement was made on Saturday through the company’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to the refinery, both existing and new customers can now buy the smaller volume while enjoying a 10-day credit facility, provided the purchase is supported by a bank guarantee.

The company also stated that buyers who lift larger volumes will continue to benefit from volume-based discounts, adding that plans are underway to introduce free delivery to petrol stations.
Industry analysts say the reduction in minimum order quantity will allow smaller and mid-sized marketers to source fuel directly from the refinery without relying on bulk-buying arrangements.
The development is expected to improve fuel availability nationwide and support lower pump prices, especially in regions where transportation costs often push prices higher.
Recent checks show that petrol prices in Lagos have dropped to between N730 and N740 per litre, compared to about N900 recorded a week earlier.
The N699 gantry price was introduced as part of measures to ease transportation costs ahead of the festive travel season, when fuel demand typically rises.
Experts note that Dangote Refinery’s consistent price adjustments point to a shift away from the former marketers’ consortium system, as the company expands output and strengthens its distribution network.
Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, has previously assured Nigerians that petrol prices would not exceed N740 per litre during the festive period, warning against actions that could artificially inflate fuel costs.
