Fuel distribution from Dangote Refinery postponed despite earlier August 15 start date.

Delay caused by ongoing numbering of new trucks for direct-to-customer deliveries.

IPMAN says nationwide rollout now expected in one week, with prices likely to fall.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has disclosed that the much-anticipated nationwide distribution of petrol and diesel by the Dangote Refinery, initially scheduled to begin on Friday, has been delayed due to the numbering of trucks.
The 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery had earlier announced that its direct fuel distribution programme to filling stations across the country would commence on August 15, 2025, but no movement was recorded as of Friday morning.
IPMAN National President, Mr Abubakar Maigandi, confirmed that the facility was finalising the numbering of its newly procured compressed natural gas trucks worth N720 billion.

“I spoke with the management; right now they are doing the numbering of the trucks. Immediately they are done — in a week — they will begin the direct-to-customers fuel distribution scheme,” Maigandi said.
The scheme, once launched, is expected to cut pump prices by removing the burden of high logistics costs on independent marketers.
However, the Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria have raised concerns that the initiative could lead to significant job losses in the downstream sector.
