Dismisses rumours as attempts to destabilise Nigeria’s energy sector
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has dismissed claims that it has halted operations, describing such reports as false and misleading. Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Mr Anthony Chiejina, said the refinery remains fully operational, with no suspension of production or truck loading.
Mr Chiejina explained that the intermittent sale of Residual Catalytic Oil (RCO) is part of the facility’s business model and not an indication of operational issues.
He added that the refinery continues to deliver more than 40 million litres of petrol daily, alongside steady supplies of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), supported by predictive and preventive maintenance protocols to avoid disruptions.

Challenging those anticipating shortages or price hikes, Mr Chiejina invited interested buyers to place immediate orders for up to 40 million litres of petrol and 15 million litres of diesel daily for the next 90 days.
He accused “unscrupulous and unpatriotic individuals” of spreading misinformation to justify the importation of substandard fuels under false claims of local supply gaps.
The 650,000-barrel-per-day facility, the world’s largest single-train refinery, began producing diesel and aviation fuel in January 2024 and petrol in September, aiming to end Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined products.
